La Spinetta Il Nero di Casanova

  • Varietals: 100% Sangiovese

  • Vineyards: 80% Casanova, Terricciola and 20% Sezzana, Casciana Terme. 45 hectares located 250 meters a.s.l. with southern exposure. Farmed sustainably, with no use of herbicides or pesticides. Vines average 19 years of age.

  • Soils: Calcareous, with ocean sediments

  • Winemaking: Alcoholic fermentation lasts for 9-10 days in temperature controlled rotofermentors, malolactic fermentation occurs in oak. The wine is then aged 9 months in medium toast, French oak barrels, then it is transferred to stainless steel vats for 2 months before bottling. The wine ages in bottles for another 6 months prior to release.
