La Spinetta Sezzana

  • Varietals: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino

  • Vineyards: Sezzana, in Casciana Terme; 5 hectares located at 200 meters a.s.l. with southern exposure. Average age of vines is 41 years. Sustainable farming, no use of herbicides or pesticides.

  • Soils: Sandy, calcareous, rocky and volcanic

  • Winemaking: Alcoholic fermentation occurs in temperature controlled rotofermenters for 6 to 8 days, followed by malolactic fermentation, which takes place in oak. The wine is aged for 12-14 months in entirely new, medium toast French oak barrels, then transferred to stainless steel vats for 3 months before bottling. The wine is bottled with no filtration and no clarifying. Released 10 years after harvest.
