Fortulla Sorpasso
Fortulla Sorpasso
Varietals: A blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Merlot
Vineyards: Located on the hills bordering the Spianate plateau that slopes slowly down to the Tyrrhenian Sea at Castiglioncello.
Winemaking: Made from carefully selected grapes from the most favored parcels of each vineyard. When the grapes reach optimal maturity, they are picked by hand and subjected to fermentation and slow maceration to extract the more noble tannins and the varietal aromas. After racking the wine is aged in small French oak barrels for 16 months (50% new, 35% second use, 15% third use). Aged 12 months in the bottle prior to release.
