Paolo Scavino Barolo Novantesimo

“Barolo D.O.C.G. Riserva Novantesimo 2011, from some of our historic vineyards, represents my wish to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the foundation of my family winery Paolo Scavino (1921-2011). For the first time since 1964, I decided to reproduce the bottle and the label used by my grandfather Lorenzo and my father Paolo. They devoted their lives to the care of vineyards, with great passion, tenacity and dignity, animated by love and respect for our land. They always deeply believed, even in the most difficult times, in the greatness of Langa’s hills, in the quality and character of its fruits. To me and my daughters Enrica and Elisa, it is an honor to carry on their values and the work they started.”-Enrico Scavino

The grapes for this limited release were sourced from Fiasco, Monvigliero, Cannubi and Vignane, San Bernardo, Bricco Ambrogio, and Rocche dell’Annunziata. Harvest was completed in early October, entirely by hand. The grapes were then wholly destemmed and then soft pressed. Fermentation and maceration took place in 350L open-top tonneau, initially with manual punch-downs followed by further submerged-cap maceration. The wine was aged for one year in 350L tonneau, then two more years in oak casks. 5,832 bottles produced.
