 Marc de Grazia is the founder of Mt. Etna’s modern era. No-one brings the experience of a vigneron, wine-maker and taster as Marco. Further, his development and promotion of the Etna wines world-wide is un-paralleled. His first trip, in the early 2000’s, led him to invest and purchase holdings in the greatest vineyards of the North Slope. Marco used local knowledge and the complex geological nature of the Etna soils as his guide to begin a selection of the top sites for Nerello Mascalese. This is an on-going process and today Marco’s winery boasts a mind-boggling 10 Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Marco’s interpretation of the North Etna is that of a Mediterranean Burgundy, this is a simple label that only gives you a starting point to understand the complex nature of the Etna. Nerello Mascalese on the North Side of the Etna in its complex volcanic soils is clearly one of the world’s great examples of terroir.
