Contratto
Contratto is one of Italy's most historic estates. Established in 1867, Contratto produced Italy's first vintage-dated sparkling wine in 1919 with their Extra Brut. They originally produced sparkling wine from Moscato, aged in the bottle sur lie after secondary fermentation. The estate enjoyed tremendous fame throughout the early 1900s as their sparkling wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were exported all around the world. Now the fabled estate moves into a new era with none other than Giorgio Rivetti and his son Andrea. They purchased the estate in 2011 and have been making the wines in the cellar since 2007. Giorgio’s passion for Champagne is now focused on making Italy’s greatest sparkling wine.
