Ronco Del Gnemiz
Serena Palazzolo owns 12 Ha on the Rozzazo hill between the villages of San Giovanni Natisone and Manzano. Palazzolo is a biodynamic farmer who crafts some of the most rich and complex white wines in Italy. The vineyards are on the Rosazzo Hill which offer several exposures on soils locally known as Ponca. Ponca is a complex schist that easily crumbles and is composed of limestone from ancient ocean clay deposits. Palazzolo’s farm is in a special area of Colli Orientale del Friuli with warmer vineyard sites tempered by sea breezes summer rains. Bora winds from the nearby Julian Alps keep the vineyards dry and grapes healthy. Winemaking is simple, fermented, and aged neutral wood with no malolactic conversion on the whites.
